About

When it comes to sex offenders, rapists, pedophiles and child molesters – it’s better to assume their guilt until they are proven innocent. Act Now, Apologize Later!

Since the final passage of Megan’s Law, the public has been able to view information on sex offenders who are required to register with their local law enforcement. Prior to Megan’s Law, information was only available by visiting the police department, sheriff office or by calling a toll-free number.

In 2004, all states adopted Megan’s Law. The public is provided with information on the whereabouts of sex offenders so that local communities can protect themselves and their children.

Megan’s Law is named for Megan Kanka, a seven-year-old New Jersey girl, the fatal victim of a known registered sex offender who had moved across the street from the family. The family was unaware that their neighbor was a registered sex offender. Following their tragic loss, the Kankas pushed to have communities warned about sex offenders in their area.

Why MugWatch.org?

On February 21, 2014, it had been TWO years since I learned someone I care about deeply, had been abused for more than a decade. Over the following two years, I saw what happens when a molester is arrested, posts bond, and jumps right into a game of playing the justice system for continuances, delays, etc.

The thing that bothered me most, is the fact that this particular molester worked in the home service industry. This molester was living his life as normal, entering the homes of people who had no idea who they had opened their door to. Not all molesters/rapists are a threat in every setting, most are too secretive – this incident opened my eyes to the gross freedoms molesters-on-bond have.

This molester had his mugshot and arrest notification appear in a local, small-town newspaper, but the number of people who get their news online and through sources such as Facebook, the chances of his mugshot being seen were quite small.

Over two years, the victim and those effected by that case had to share a small community with a molester. I personally encountered him at the local markets; I ended up behind him at the car wash, and each time, my stomach turns to knots, knowing that NO ONE around me knew what was right in front of them. And if any of us did anything, he would use that in his favor to play the courts more.

While the molester haunted my own thoughts those years, I know that, in NO WAY, compares to the YEARS he stole from his victim(s) – I’m not convinced he only has one victim, but that’s all we are aware of.

Because it is illegal to stalk molesters, and it is risky to speak to; talk about, or act in any way that could be classified as “harassment,” I decided to take to the Internet and use our experience to help as many people as I possibly can.

Information Sources

MugWatch relies on readers to submit news reports and newspaper articles on those who have been arrested for sex crimes that we may have missed. MugWatch is updated by a staff of volunteers who know the anguish of waiting for justice to be served.

But What About Those Wrongfully Accused?

There will be some who are wrongfully and falsely accused. In those cases, we WILL, upon submission of PROOF of INNOCENCE, provide a public rebuttal and apology and will update every post that contains the name of the person, wrongfully accused with BIG NOTICE so everyone who sees those posts will know that person is innocent and have been wrongfully accused, according to the courts. All images of that person will be promptly removed as well.

I believe wholeheartedly in the concept of Act Now, Apologize Later. I would much rather be on the side of Prevention and Protection than to sit back and do nothing.
